A New Approach to Taxonomy Management in SAP MDG

Taxonomy Application consolidates fragmented and hard-to-maintain taxonomy processes into a single, streamlined application.

CENTRAL TAXONOMY MANAGEMENT

Categories and attributes in one unified structure

When product categories and attributes are managed across different systems, data inconsistencies can arise over time.

medepia Taxonomy Management Application enables you to centrally manage category creation, attribute management, category–attribute relationships, and material assignments through interconnected applications.

Thanks to its hierarchical category structure, child categories can inherit attributes and properties from parent categories. This reduces redundant definitions and creates a more consistent classification structure across related product groups.

DYNAMIC AND FLEXIBLE MANAGEMENT

Adapt to new requirements without code changes

Taxonomy structures are constantly evolving. When a new product category, attribute, or different user interface requirement arises, traditional applications often require technical development.

With its metadata-based Dynamic Attribute Management approach, medepia Taxonomy Management Application allows new product attributes to be created and managed at runtime.

New fields can be added to the system without changing the database structure or redeploying the application.

With Taxonomy UI Configuration, related attributes can be grouped, their positions in the user interface can be defined, and more organized screens can be created for different business scenarios.

GOVERNANCE INTEGRATED WITH SAP MDG

Make taxonomy data part of your SAP processes

Taxonomy management is not limited to creating categories. Product classification also needs to be managed together with SAP Material Master processes.

medepia Taxonomy Management Application enables materials to be assigned to taxonomy categories and allows category-related attribute values to be managed through SAP MDG Change Request processes.

Categories, attributes, and category–attribute relationships can be managed in a controlled way through defined lifecycle statuses.

With its SAP Fiori, ABAP RAP, CDS, and OData-based architecture, taxonomy management works in full integration with the existing SAP ecosystem.
